Girls Sprints/Hurdles
The girls sprints were one of the best entertainers of the meet. The 60m saw 7.79 be the cut off to make the final. Atlanta, Georgia junior Trinity Price set the standard in the prelims with her 7.58 to lead all runners. However, it was a TAPPS runner from Austin St. Dominic Savio Catholic taking the win as she led the charge with her 7.51. Fort Worth Trimble Tech junior Kenondra Davis was second in 7.56 and Rossum was third in 7.57.
On Friday, we saw a tremendous amount of speed when Laila Owens (23.55) of Fort Bend Bush and Jayla Hollis (23.95) ran the top two times in the nation setting things up for an amazing final.
However, both girls opted out of running in the final. That led to another win for Wilson who came back wity a 24.30 for the narrow win over Humble Summer Creek junior Dynasty McClennon (24.33)
Ziyah Holman from Georgetown Day School (DC) led all quarter milers with a 55.18 prelim time. That was just a sign of things to come as she returned Saturday in the finals to improve that. She took the win with her 54.97 to edge Chermariea Hardy of Clear Falls.
Jalayasi'ya Smith won the girls 60H
The girls hurdles had no shortage of some of the best in the state. DeSoto junior Jalaysi'ya Smith led the attack with her 8.64 top time from the prelims. Fort Bend Travis senior Victoria Mathiew, Jayla Hollis, and Tairah Johnson all had sub 9.00 qualifying times setting up a fast final.
In the end, the DeSoto teammates of Smith (8.50) and Hollis (8.72) would jet to the award stand along with Aldine Eisenhower sophomore Jaiya Covington (8.97).

Girls Mid Distance/Distance
Home school sensation Krianne McBride is the first girl to win the 800m at Texas A&M. Her 2:15.26 is the meet record, but also solidified her as one of the girls to watch in the future. She was selected to run at NXN and now a big win in a meet like this gives the young runner a lot of confidence.
The one mile was a continuation of the cross country season. The fall proved the girls distance scene in Texas is deep and that was driven home this weekend. Marble Falls junior Bailey Goggans has run the 400m in her previous two seasons at this meet. She added the mile last year, but this is the first season she dropped the 400m for this weekend. That resulted in a 4:53.73 PR and win in the mile.
McBride was the runner up as she also dipped under 5:00 with her 4:58.83. The depth was further displayed with a total of six girls running under 5:10 and a total of 15 going 5:15 and under.
Brynn Brown dropped a bomb in the 2 mile when she went 10:08.11. That is an indoor best, in fact, its faster than her 10:09.91 3200m state record that she ran last May. She led off with a 4:59 1 mile split and finished with a strong 5:09 second mile. Brown led eight girls under 11:30.

Girls Field Events
The Houston Memorial junior Claire Bryant is well known for her exploits in the long jump. However, she is also a good high jumper. She won the high jump with a 5-4 over the freshman from Frisco, Texas Sky Schuller, Kennedy Doakes from The Woodlands, and Evelyn Lavielle from Houston Stratford. Both Bryant and Schuller weren't quite done for the weekend.
Schuller then walked over to the pole vault competition and jumped 12-01.75 to take the win. Pearland senior Alex Kubicek is finder her momentum after some injuries and she also jumped 12-1.75 for second place.
Nikayla Fitzgerald from Birdville and Jasmyn Reece both leaped over 38 feet and led a total of seven girls over 37-0. Fitgerald won with a 38-04.75 and Reece was second with 38-01.
The girls shot put had several of the top throwers in Texas in the competition with five girls tossing over 40 feet.
Cyprss Lakes senior Keayla Dove threw 46-06.75 for the win with Katy Cinco Ranch junior Amelia Flynt going 44-09.50 for second.
