Only two jumpers in the country have broken 50-feet in the triple jump. And just four long jumpers have marked a leap over 24 feet.
So without coincidence, no athlete in either discipline has been able to achieve either both of these feats in 2019 just yet.
But they're on the right path.
Brien McMahon (CT) senior Justin Forde -- who's also high jumped 6 feet, 10 inches -- and Southeast Raleigh (NC) senior Eric Haddock are two of 17 athletes nationally who have combined for marks over 70 feet in both the long jump and triple jump, with Forde leading as the top combined jumper overall.
Forde leads with a combined leap of 74-5.5, while Haddock is right behind in 74-3.75. But Haddock, who's marked a 24-5.5 long jump, is on the cusp of breaking 50 feet in the triple jump. So in the last few weeks of the season, it will be a race for the top combined leader in the jumps.
