6 Must-Watch Events At Dartmouth Relays

Girls 2 Mile

WhoSophia Reynolds (Merrimack Valley, NH), Caroline Fischer (Bish Guertin, NH)

When: Saturday, Jan. 12 (Seeded Section, 4:25 p.m.)

Why: Last year Exeter's (NH) Jacqueline Gaughan set the meet record with her run of 10:20.77. This year we probably won't see a meet record, but we will see an athlete who had the potential to set records down the road. That athlete is Merrimack Valley's (NH) Sophia Reynolds. Reynolds is only a freshman but already this year she has run a U.S. No. 11 3000m time of 10:09.86. So far it's the fastest freshmen time in the nation. She ran that time as well as a U.S. No. 28 time of 4:48.14 at the UNH Winter Track League at Plymouth State. Not to mention she almost made Foot Locker Nationals this past fall after finishing just one spot out of qualification (11th) at Foot Locker Northeast.

Fellow New Hampshirite Caroline Fischer could give Reynolds a run for her money. Fischer took third last year at this meet running 11:12.33 and is the top returner.
