NCAA DI Nationals By The Numbers

Mens Race

  • The average time in the mens race was 30:58.62. This exactly matches the average time from 2017's championship.
  • Despite the conditions, this year's mens race is tied with 2017 for the second fastest average since switching the race distance to 10K in 1976. Only 2012 had a faster average with 30:57.11.
  • With Grant Fisher's runner-up finish, Stanford now has five individual runner-up finishes with no individual champions. No other school without an individual champion has done this more than twice.
  • The University of Wisconsin has now competed in 64 of the 79 NCAA DI XC Mens Championships, the most of any university. They brought home their fifth individual title, the third most behind Oregon, eight, and Washington State, seven. This comes a year removed from 2017, where the top Badger finisher was 92nd, the worst in their 64 appearances.
  • The average 3200m HS PR for athletes in the mens race was 9:11. Notably, fourth place finisher Isai Rodriguez and sixth finisher Tyler Day are well above the average with PRs of 9:26 and 9:28 respectively. Day's PR ranks 151st of the 174 athletes for which we have a HS 3200m PR. (Edit: Isai ran 8:26 for 3K which converts to 9:03 for 3200m)
