5 Maine girls have broken 19 minutes at the Manchester Invitational since 2000. On Saturday we could see at least one more join the elite company.
Freeport senior Lily Horne clocked a 18:36.70 at the Southern Maine XC Classic is back and looking to improve on her fastest time of 19:35. A year ago Horne battled the heat and humidity to finish second in the small school race and will be one of the pre-race favorites.
The fastest athlete competing on Saturday will be Greely senior Carolyn Todd who clocked a 19:19 during her sophomore year which saw her finish 4th overall in the small school race.
