Girls 200m
Why: The girls 200m will feature many of the same athletes as the 100m but the biggest matchup we're watching is Denver East High School junior Arria Minor against Northeast High School (FL) sophomore Briana Williams. Minor has run the second-fastest time in the nation this year with her 22.89 (+1.9) from the Colorado State Track and Field Championships. But Williams is knocking on Minor's door with her US No. 3 time of 23.11 (1.1) from the Flow Carifta Games earlier this year.
This matchup is also interesting because many people would see Minor as a stronger 400m athlete whose PR is 51.92, but she competes in everything from the 100m to the 400m. Then Williams is more of a 100m runner who competes in the 200m. Both these girls have the ability to drop a quick time and with the right conditions, we could see both these athletes running sub 22 seconds. They will also both scheduled to run in their more prominent events as well.
