National Records That Could Go Down In Boys Events In 2018

Boys 100m

The national record still stands at a wind-legal 10.00 seconds, which was last achieved by Cherryville (NC) High graduate Trentavis Friday in 2014. The only time a high schooler has ever gone under 10 seconds was in 2013, when Trayvon Bromell went an all conditions 9.99 (+4.0) at the Great Southwest Classic.

Closest Overall: Jeff Demps, Groveland South Lake (FL), 10.01, 2008

Closest in 2018: Anthony Schwartz, American Heritage (FL), 10.13 (+2.0)

Prediction: It's happening! We're calling it right now. Schwartz is going to become the first high school athlete to run under 10 seconds before he heads off to Auburn University. Now, where does it happen? We believe he's going to hit that mark at the World U20 Championships in Finland, assuming he qualifies in June. But maybe he does it before. Maybe the Adidas Boost 100? Maybe USA Junior Nationals? He went 10.07 (+2.5) at states this past weekend. We all know he has it in him.
