Brock Appiah always knew he wanted to be a two-way athlete in college, both in football and track and field.
The Edmonds North (OK) High graduate was largely considered the best prep sprinter in Oklahoma over much of his four years, racing to an all conditions PR of 10.37 seconds in the 100m, 21.04 seconds (+1.9) in the 200m and 48.09 seconds in the 400m.
But while Appiah had committed to the University of Oklahoma early on, he was forced to find a quick alternative in June, considerably after the regular signing period had begun in April.
The NCAA signing period does, however, run until August 1, and Appiah, who was a standout cornerback on his high school football team, did have some time to find a fit with another school.
That answer came less than a month later.
Appiah confirmed he will be attending Division I Arkansas State next year to compete in both football and track and field.
Appiah's attitude toward the process always remained positive -- which likely rubbed off on the right people.
