With just 59 performances in the heptathlon over the 2017 season, we haven't seen what the best in the United States has to offer in the multis just yet. 

And there's a basis for that. It's far afield -- at least when it comes to the amount of run it gets over the outdoor high school track and field season. 

But the all-girls feature, which yields performances in the 100m hurdles, 200m, 800m, shot put, long jump and javelin, often encompasses the best in track and field.

Since 2010, high school national leaders in the heptathlon have gone on to appear at the Olympics, qualify for IAAF U20 championships, win conference championships and generally exhibit fantastic displays of athleticism.

Back in 2012, Marietta Kell (Ga.) High's Kendell Williams set the US Junior record in the heptathlon after scoring 5,578 poitns at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Barcelona.
