It's still early for Denver East sophomore Arria Minor

Which is why her appearance at the Mullen adidas Roost Runners Invitational on Saturday in Denver could signal the start of a special sophomore season for the sprinter.

A year ago, as a freshman, Minor showed up at Mullen and set a meet record in the 100m with an 11.64 second effort in a 0.7-plus headwind that stood up as the No. 23 time nationally that year.

But she saved her best for later in the day, producing a 23.65 time in the 200m under a 1.8-negative headwind. Months later, she would cut that time down to 23.42, breaking into the top 10 nationally by the end of the season and proving she had the legs to compete with anyone in the nation.

So what's in store for 2017?

Minor debuted on March 18 at the Thunderridge Invitational and then began to cut away time the very next week at the Broomfield Shootout, posting times of 11.69 in the 100m and a 23.97 in the 200m.

But this weekend's effort should begin to give us an indication...
