Boys' New Balance Nationals Indoor Pennsylvania Preview

Boys' Sprints/Hurdles Preview

60 Meter Dash

A number of top PA sprinters are entered in the 60 dash, which should be very competitive. State champ and US#3 in the event Journey Brown is not entered, but a host of others will toe the line. PA#2 and US#4 Jeremy Jennings is the top seed in the entire field. The Downingtown East senior ran a best of 6.81 this season and took second to Brown at states. Eric Harrison Jr. from Washington DC is tied with Jennings for US#4 and will look to challenge.

Also in the field is Dock's Austin Kratz (PA#7), Carlisle's Mychael Thomas (PA#10) and Prince Gaye (PA#28), Mastery Charter South's Merrill Chappell (PA#13), Bonner & Prendie's Ethan Cook (PA#13), and Aliquippa's Antwan Brooks (PA#18).

200 Meters

Coatesville's Terrance Laird will chase that elusive PA state record in the 200 meters this weekend. The senior and Penn State recruit fell short of the record of 21.19 at indoor states, but still ran away with the state title. On Saturday, he'll look for that time and All-American status. The favorites are the incredible Tyrese Cooper of Florida and Champion Allison of Texas.

Also in the field from PA is North Allegheny's Ayden Owens (PA#2), who was second to Laird at states, Dock's Austin Kratz (PA#5), and Bishop Shanahan's Nate Alleyne (PA#7) and Keegan Hughes (PA#14).

400 Meters

After their epic duel to the line at indoor states last week, Bishop Shanahan's Nate Alleyne and St. Joseph's Prep's Miles Green will return to the quarter mile. The pair who sit at PA#1 and PA#2 and US#10 and US#11 respectively will look to sneak into the medals at The Armory. Florida's Tyrese Cooper is the overwhelming favorite in this field, having run 46.01 this season indoors.

60 Meter Hurdles

Germantown Academy's Kyle Garland will have a busy weekend, but the US#5 will look for some glory in the hurdles. Garland is fresh off a state championship in the event. He ran a best of 7.89 in the semis at states and will look for another big drop in time like he saw at Penn State.

Trey Cunningham of Alabama broke the national record this winter in the 60 hurdles and he'll be the heavy favorite. PA#6 Alex Dimon of Pennridge is the only other PA entry here.
