Sammy Watson of Rush Henrietta, N.Y. ran 2:03.94 to place fourth in the pro women's 800m field at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston on Saturday afternoon. That time makes Watson the third-fastest prep performer for the indoor 800m behind only Mary Decker (2:01.8) and Sabrina Southerland (2:03.59).
Rabbit Marisa Turner took the field through 400m in 1:00.28, and Watson consistently ran on the outside of lane one within the top four of a decorated field that included 2015 IAAF World 800m champion Marina Arzamasova of Belarus. American Charlene Lipsey made a big move in the final 100m that no one could match, and she crossed the line in 2:02.01 for the win.
Watson's previous indoor best was 2:05.11, though she has run 2:02.91 outdoors.
