National boys cross country power Christian Brothers Academy of N.J. added a new coach to their staff this week: 2011 alumnus Mike Mazzaccaro.

This fall is the first without legendary coach Tom Heath since 1971. Longtime assistant Sean McCafferty was named the new head cross country in March; Mazzaccaro will be his assistant.

Heath called Mazzaccaro the "greatest cross country runner in CBA history," according to Jim Lambert for NJ.com.

Mazzaccaro was a two-time state cross country champion, led CBA to a fifth-place finish at NXN in 2010, and anchored CBA to win the distance medley relay at the Penn Relays Championship of America in 2011.

He graduated from Princeton in 2015, where he clocked a 14:05 5K but battled injuries throughout his career. He lives with Olympian Robby Andrews in Lawrenceville, N.J.

He will teach history at CBA.

CBA holds a national record for the most consecutive dual meet wins with 343 straight victories. Their home opener is Sept. 13 vs. Colts Neck and Manalapan High Schools.
