IAAF World U20 Champs Journal: Aaliyah Miller Travels to Poland

July 15 & 16: Travel Days
The days leading up to getting to Bydgoszcz was a little hectic! My Dallas flight got delayed, but I still got to Chicago on time so that wasn't that bad. The only thing I was dreading was the long flight to Warsaw! But it was okay I watched Superman vs Batman and tried to sleep as much as I could! Once we got off the 9 hour flight from Chicago we went through customs, and got our passports stamped!! The bus ride was supposed to be 3 hours but it ended up being close to 5 1/2 hours since we originally went the wrong way to the hotel! That was the only stressful part since all I wanted to do was sleep! But so far I have adjusted pretty well to the time change, just gotta get my naps in!

July 17: First Official Day in Poland
My first day in Bydgoszcz was pretty fun! Woke up early for breakfast and then went to the track to get a quick workout in around 10. The weather here is cool, not too cold and not too hot and just a little wind, which is perfect running conditions! It was nice seeing some of the other teams here too, especially Japan! They have like a neon coral color on their gear and I'm going to try and get one of the jackets!

So far I've learned that mineral water is gross. Never knew it existed, and I don't know how people are drinking it, but luckily I found water that is alright! At the hotel that we're staying at I saw Jamaica and Spain here which is sweet! They're pretty intimidating! I'm still bummed about missing the mall, but I should've known I was going to oversleep lol! And I was right about the food, I should've packed more snacks! But it's okay I know I'll adjust real quick once I get hungry!

Overall, Just meeting everyone who made Team USA is so cool, I feel like every time I look around I see someone new! Everyone here is so nice, I'm so blessed and fortunate enough to make this team. I can't wait to race in just a few days and represent not only my country, but my state and city as well!
