Elena Bruckner Is Back in a Huge Way
After finishing her indoor season with a third-place finish in the shot put at New Balance Nationals Indoor, Elena Bruckner made her outdoor debut in a dual meet on Wednesday. Bruckner truly shines outdoors -- in 2015, she won the California state championship in the shot put and became the #10 discus performer in high school history. At Wednesday's dual, Bruckner proved her performance last year was not just a fluke by recording nation-leading marks in the shot 15.92m/52-3 and the disc 55.19m/181-1. Before Wednesday, she had not thrown within 20 feet of her 55.67m/182-8 PR.
But the most unlikely result from Wednesday's meet was Bruckner's 2:53 clocking in the 800m. One simply must respect the 800-discus-shot put triple.
UPDATE: There was an error in the results; Bruckner's sister is the one who ran the 800.
