Tasty Race Of The Week: Calabar vs. Kingston College 4x4

The ISSA /Grace Kennedy Boys & Girls Champs in Jamaica constituted the hottest prep track and field action of the weekend. The Calabar boys won their fifth consecutive team title, led by phenom Christopher Taylor. The sixteen-year-old set two individual Class 2 meet records in the 200m (20.8) and 400m (46.33), but his greatest moment was the closing race: the Boys Open 4x400-meter Relay, where he faced Kingston College's Akeem Bloomfield on the anchor.

Bloomfield, the Class 1 400m champion and National Junior Record holder with his PR of 44.93, received the baton in third place, about 12 meters behind Taylor. Watch the epic dual for yourself below:

Bloomfield would split 44.5, but Taylor's 45.3 would be enough to secure the win, 3:09.77 to 3:10.26. Check out the height difference between the two sprint stars:

Jamaica makes a good case for the most hype track and field nation in the world. If the 4x4 video above didn't convince you, check out the official music video for ISSA Champs created by none other than Beenie Man, Elephant Man and friends:
