Geer Geek: New Balance 860 v6

Overpronators get ready, New Balance has updated the latest model of the 860, a key model in the NB running specialty line. This high mileage stability shoe designed for daily training has been updated with some key performance elements. Changes to the midsole and upper are understated but essential for the shoe's desirable feel.

The upper keeps the synthetic technical mesh and structured overlays that work to support the foot and keep it back into the heel of the shoe. The updated padded neoprene tongue provides a soft touch on the instep of the foot. Although bulky and cumbersome at first glance, the tongue holds in place from the lacing, providing a good wrapped feel. The volume and vamp for the mid foot and toe box are noticeably more roomy compared to last season, a key feature for long mileage runs where the running should accounts for foot swelling. The out of box step-in feel provides a promising start to the shoe's wear testing. The materials do not have that starchy "new crunch" feel when walking around and running.
