Jake Brophy is the top returner this year from the Foot Locker Northeast Region, where the rising senior finished 5th last year in 15:37.4. Brophy, a rising senior at Central Bucks East, Pa., went on to finish 25th at Foot Locker Nationals in 15:58.00. He will be the fifth fastest returner to Balboa Park if he qualifies for California again this year. The fastest returning 5k times belong to Edwin Rutto of St. Benedict's Prep, N.J. (home of NCAA champion Edward Cheserek!) and Aidan Tooker of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., who both ran 14:57 last fall. Blaise Ferro is another one to keep an eye on, as the Christian Brothers Academy senior opted for NXN last year - where he finished ninth - but returns with the third-fastest 5k time of all runners in the Foot Locker Northeast Region.
