Sharrika Barnett of Oak Ridge won her first individual Florida 4A state title in the 400m, clocking U.S. No. 2 52.67.

Girls 400m

1. Sydney McLaughlin (Union Catholic, NJ - So.) - The precocious sprinter's main event is the 400m hurdles, but she can run a mean flat quarter mile, too. In just two outdoor meets this year, she improved from 55.02 to U.S. No. 1 52.59. She is the defending New Balance Nationals Outdoor champion in the 400m hurdles, but could make a run to double in both events.

2. Sharrika Barnett (Oak Ridge, FL - Sr.) - The Jamaica native is undefeated in 2015 in the quarter mile, including her first individual state title in the tough Florida 4A classification. The Florida-bound senior ranks U.S. No. 2 with her personal record of 52.67; she returns as runner-up from the 2014 New Balance Nationals Outdoor Championship.

3. Kamryn McIntosh (Suffern, NY - So.) - The National High School Record Holder for 600m has clocked some nasty relay splits this outdoor season, including a 52.93 FAT 4x400m anchor and 2:03 4x800m anchor. She is the defending New Balance Nationals Indoor champion for 400m. Whether her best event is the 400m or 800m is yet to be determined, but in open races, she ranks U.S. No. 13 at 54.12 and U.S. No. 3 at 2:06.00, respectively, this spring.

4. Nicole Montgomery (Lewis-Palmer, CO - Sr.) - The Kansas-bound senior will graduate with five state titles to her name, including three straight Colorado 400m state crowns. She clocked her first sub-53 second race to rank U.S. No. 3 at 52.95.

5. Sammy Watson (Rush-Henrietta Sperry, NY - So.) - This super-sophomore rivals McIntosh as the top 400m-800m hybrid in the state of New York and likely the entire country. Watson, the New Balance Nationals Indoor 800m champion, has raced under 54 seconds in her past two competitions and ranks U.S. No. 4 with her personal best of 53.08.

6. Aliyah Abrams (Grayson, GA - Sr.) - The South Carolina-bound senior enjoyed her first injury-free season to great success this spring, breaking the Georgia state record in the 400m (53.10) and leading possibly the deepest state meet field in the nation, as four girls broke 54 seconds to rank in the U.S. top 11 performers. She was just 18th at New Balance last year, but could throw down some damage this year if she chooses to return.

7. Hanna Waller (Buchanan, CA - Jr.) - The junior is undefeated this year in the 100m, 200m and 400m, though her main event is the quarter mile as she ranks U.S. No. 9 in 53.57. That time came in winning the prestigious Arcadia Invitational; she will look for her first state title this weekend after finishing fourth and third, respectively, in her freshman and sophomore years.

8. Lenysse Dyer (American, FL - Sr.) - A runner-up finish to Barnett at the Florida Class 4A State Finals was the only blemish on an undefeated season, though the race did result in a personal best by more than a second to rank U.S. No. 6 in 53.15. 2015 is her first season focusing on the 400m and it seems she has found her event.

9. Makenzie Dunmore (McEachern, GA - Jr.) - The 2014 Georgia State Champion for 400m was runner-up this year behind a red-hot Abrams, who pushed Dunmore to a personal best 53.32 to rank U.S. No. 7. The junior is the defending AAU National Club Champion in the event.

9. Serenity Douglas (Archer, GA - Jr.) - Just how deep is the state of Georgia in the girls 400m? Douglas took just third at her state meet one year after placing third at New Balance Nationals Outdoor. Behind Abrams (#6) and Dunmore (#9), Douglas still ran her personal best of 53.42 to rank U.S. No. 8. She also claimed All-American honors during the indoor season, with a seventh place finish at NBN.

10. Becca Schulte (Fort Collins, CO - Jr.) - The junior had a breakout year, dropping two seconds off her personal record to a U.S. No. 10 time of 53.64 to win the Colorado state meet one year after finishing fifth. She won the open competition at the Arcadia Invitational and has raced under 55 seconds three times.
