DAY TWO HIGHLIGHTS:
Hunter Woodhall of Utah set the national high school record for Paralympians in the 400m with a time of 49.15.
Boys Highlights:
- Hunter Woodhall's legs are made of metal, but that hasn't stopped the Utah athlete from racing. He set a 400m national high school record for Paralympians in 49.15 and will return in the 200m.
- Double national indoor champion (LJ/TJ) Ja'Mari Ward of Cahokia had to take a step down on the leaderboard today, courtesy of Va. state champion Grant Holloway's 25-8.75 long jump, but the junior nearly bettered his own season-best with a 25-5 jump and defend his title at the Classic.
- Defending national champion Darryl Haraway of DeMatha cruised All-Conditions US #2 10.22 100m. Can he make a go at Ryan Clark in the post-season?
Tori and Lexi Weeks went 1-2 in the pole vault, as Tori set a new PR and US #2 mark of 14-1, which stands as a new meet record.
Girls Highlights:
- Identical twins Tori and Lexi Weeks traded places this weekend, as Tori - who usually finishes runner-up to indoor national high school record holder Lexi - vaulted 14-1 to set a new personal best, US #2 mark and break the meet record. Lexi holds the US #1 mark at 14-2 this year; she finished runner-up in 13-6. They flew from Arkansas to the New Mexico meet, but their poles did not - Grandpa drove the implements down to avoid any issues at the airport.
- Candace Hill of Rockdale Co., Ga. is on another level - or Teahna Daniels' level. The sophomore defending national champion tied the senior's All-Conditions US #1 11.15 100m before doubling back with an All-Conditions US #2 22.76 200m!
DAY ONE HIGHLIGHTS:
Marcus Quere of Loveland, Co. wins first career 2k steeplechase in 6:23.
Boys Highlights:
- Junior Marcus Quere of Loveland, Co. wins first career 2k steeplechase in 6:23.
- The highly anticipated Jamaican relay teams suffer some disappointment on Day 1 as Calabar cruises to win the 4x200m in 1:25.66, only to get disqualified. DQ hands the win to Illinois 'B' Team, 1:26.63 from the previous section! How loaded are the Illinois sprints? 'A' Team places third, runners-up after Jamaican DQ!
- Joshua Hernandez of Texas threw two hammer throw marks past 200 feet, though only one was legal as the other was ruled a fouled attempt. His best toss of 208-11 is a new US #4 mark.
- Team Utah won the boys 4x800 meter relay pulling away from Team Kansas (7:52) and Team Colorado (7:55) for a 7:49 victory.

Team Louisiana won the Girls 4x200m relay in 1:38 on Friday night, anchored by Hannah Jackson (#3).
Girls Highlights:
- 2:11 800m girl Tabor Scholl of West Grand, Co. wins Girls 2k Steeplechase in 7:21.9. The win here is a first for the CU-bound senior, who placed second in the mile and fourth in the 800m last year.
- Team Louisiana wins the 4x200m in 1:38, as Class 5A rivals Janie O'Connor of Zachary and Hannah Jackson of St. Louis team up after trading wins in the 100m/200m a few weeks ago at state. Jackson anchors the squad.
- Haley Showalter of Valor Christian does not quite top her 193-4 mark from last year, but her winning 191-0 improves her own US #1 mark by quite a margin! Her previous national leader was just 179-3.
- Team Colorado takes the girls 4x800 running away with a 10 second margin of victory in 9:13.85.
