An 8th grader finds herself as the national leader in the 3200/two mile with Montgomery Catholic's Amaris Tyynismaa having turned in a 10:37.10 3200 performance last month at the Holiday Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama. After a cross country season which included setting the Alabama state meet course record and running a time that would have qualified for Foot Locker Nationals at South Regional in Charlotte (but since a 8th grader couldn't qualify), Tyynismaa's early success on the track comes as no surprise.
