Bethan Knights, a senior at Northwood High School, set a new US#1 time in the 3200m, clocking in at 9:54.89 to win the Southern Section Masters Meet. That time beats Alexa Efraimson’s time of 9:55 set at the Arcadia Invitational, where Knights was third, to put her as the nation leader. This time also puts her as US#5 all time behind Kim Mortensen, Aisling Cuffe, Jordan Hasay, and Laurynne Chetelat. Interestingly enough, the national record of 9:48.59 set by Kim Mortensen in 1996 was from this meet. Knights has a chance to move up the list in a week at the CIF State Championship.
