Orji leaping big mid-week again - US #2 all-time 44-0 TJ! NJ pair of US #1 DMR's too!

Mount Olive (NJ) senior Keturah Orji just cannot seem to keep herself off from earning a spot on the front page of MileSplit US but a few days. Arguably one of the nation's top horizontal jumpers did it again with another big mark at the New York Armory on Tuesday in the Varsity Classic meet with a US #2 all-time leap of 44'0" in the triple jump, which was part of an impressive combo of jumps with a win and mark over 20 feet in the long jump of 20'1.50". Orji is already the US leader in the long jump with a season best performance of 20'8.75" at the New Balance Games, while the triple jump mark was a 22 1/2 inch  improvement from her previous US #1 ranked season best mark of 42'1.50" from last Wednesday's Metropolitan Invitational. The University of Georgia recruit is very much capable of being a double national champion in March at the New Balance Indoor Nationals in both the long jump and triple jump. Orji is also inching herself closer to the indoor national record in the triple jump at 44'6.75" set by Ke'Nyia Richardson from Oakland, California in 2007.

The distance medley relays saw two incredible races to produce the nation's best times for both genders by New Jersey schools. The Don Bosco Prep boys came out on top of an exciting battle with West Chester Henderson (10:15.3) of Pennsylvania in a US #1 time of 10:13.4, while Columbia girls posted a US #1 leading performance of 12:02.1.

Outside of Orji's double in the jumps, Bensalem's Kyle Francis had the second best double performance of the event with a US #6 clocking of 1:54.4 in the 800 meter run and on short rest won the mile run in a time of 4:22.5. The 800 meter time was a remarkable 5 second PR drop for the Pennsylvania senior distance runner
