#8 Anthony Grover, JSerra (SS)
California is always loaded with talent and every year, new upstarts rise to compete very well against their older rivals. Last season, JSerra sophomore Anthony Grover (Martin Dustin photo) continued the tradition of strong runners for Coach Martin Dugard with a surprising state title in the Division IV race. Grover also raced well at the Foot Locker West Region meet as he just missed qualifying for the national meet. Grover proved to be more than just a cross-country grinder on the track as he posted impressive personal best of 4:13.35 and 9:14.98 for the 1600m and 3200m respectively. The 1600m time qualified him for the California state track and field meet as he gained more racing experience in the prelims and finals.
