The Scoop: Marlee Starliper Turns In Star Performance In Pa. And Much More

Update: Duplantis has bested his clearance of 5.81 and gone a new personal record and World Junior Record of 5.88 meters, which equates to 19-3.5.

Original: Word is coming in that Lafayette (LA) High senior Mondo Duplantis, who is readying for the World Indoor Championships from March 1-4 in Birmingham, United Kingdom, cleared 5.81 meters in the pole vault this weekend, which if validated, would give him a new U20 world junior record.

Duplantis had previously cleared 5.83 meters (19-1.50) at the National Pole Vault Summit in January and had also cleared 5.82 meters at New Balance Nationals Indoor (19-1.25) at this same time last year, but neither had been validated as a World Junior Record based on existing (or lack thereof) procedures at the meets following his record attempts. Likely, as this was an All-Star pole vault competition put on in France, this will mark will stand if proper post-clearance testing was in place and peg placement was accurate.

More to come when information becomes available.

Here's Duplantis clearing an earlier height at the competition.
