Week 3 (July 30-August 5)
One of the top returning cross country talents in the nation is Hamilton Southeastern (Indiana) High rising senior Gabe Fendel, who finished 12th at Foot Locker Nationals and 28th at NXN in 2016. Fendel is already in full swing with training and is coming off a trip to Portland, Oregon, for the Nike Elite Camp, which hosted over a handful of the top distance running talent in the nation. WEEKLY MILEAGE: 50
Sunday: 8 miles, 6:50 pace
I was super sore today, probably from wearing spikes for the first time in over a month.
Monday: 6 miles, 6:15 pace
My legs felt really good today, so I picked it up a bit.
Tuesday: 10 miles, 6:30 pace
I worked in a 20 minute tempo with hills in between.
Wednesday: 6 miles, 7:00 minute pace
I treated it as a recovery day after yesterday's hard run.
Thursday: 10 miles, 6:45 pace
Friday: 6 miles, 6:30 pace
It was a medium run, not too fast, but it felt good and I'm starting to feel better after upping my mileage.
Saturday: 4 miles, easy 7:10 pace
I felt really good, no problems, and I wasn't sore.
