Vashti Cunningham Is Going To Rio

18-year-old Vashti Cunningham is officially an Olympian after placing second in the high jump finals with a top clearance of 1.97m/6-5.5.

The world indoor champion battled back-and-forth with three-time Olympian and American record holder Chaunté Lowe, who won the event with a clearance of 2.01m/6-7.25. Lowe's mark is a new world leader in 2016, while Cunningham's tied for No. 3 in the world.

Cunningham's final mark is her best this outdoor season by one full foot and stands as her best jump since winning the USATF Indoor National title in 6-6.25.

The daughter of former NFL star Randall Cunningham could become the youngest Olympic medalist since 1972. She is the youngest track and field athlete to represent Team USA at the Games since 1976.

Candace Hill, Kaylin Whitney Out in 100m Semi

Professional preps Candace Hill and Kaylin Whitney did not advance through to the finals of the 100m. Seventeen-year-old Hill, who represents ASICS, ran 11.07 (+3.1) for fourth place in her section while eighteen-year-old Whitney, who represents Nike, placed seventh in her section with a time of 11.15 (+4.5).

Torie Bowie of adidas clocked the fastest time of the semi-finals in 10.74 (+3.1). The last time qualifier to the final was Tiffany Townsend of adidas, 11.03 (+4.5).
