National Weekend Rundown for March 5

Abby Steiner and Tyler Johnson Become Stars in Akron

Steiner and Johnson blazed to the national leaderboards in the short sprints at the Ohio state meet. Steiner, competing in the D1 meet in the morning, won the girls 60 in 7.38 seconds and the 200 in 24.07.  The 60 time is US #3 and the 200 time is tied for US #10.

Johnson went for a brutal 60/200/400 triple in the evening D2/3 meet, and his fresh legs served him best in the 60 final before the longer sprints.  In a thrilling 60, Johnson and Jacob Coates both finished in 6.78 seconds, which adds them to a now six-way tie for US #4 in the event.
