National Weekend Rundown: 7 Things To Know

6. Sammy Watson has the best range in the country

Sammy Watson made our Weekend Rundown list last weekend, when she qualified for the New Balance Grand Prix Junior Mile by winning the Dartmouth Relays Mile in 4:59.84.

Don't think for a second that the IAAF World Youth Champion for 800m has forgotten her roots as a sprinter: she cruised to U.S. No. 1 times in the 400m and the 600m at two separate meets this weekend!

She ran a slight PR of 1:31.38 in the 600m at the Trent Jackson/Cedric Walker Invite, then doubled back on Saturday with a nation-leading 54.66 in the 400m at the SPIRE Scholastic Open.

She owns the fastest 600m time in the nation by three seconds and is the first prep to break 55 seconds in the 400m. Watson ranks No. 14 nationally in the Mile, but with that kind of range... let's just say we can't wait to see what she does in Boston at the New Balance Grand Prix event.
