The boys race got off to a bit of a different start then the girls. All of the guys still got out quick but stayed packed up through almost a mile and a half. The race wasn't fully decided until the last straight away. It came down to a battle between Casey Clinger of American Fork (UT), and Ben Veatch of Carmel (IN). In the end it was Clinger who came away with the win setting a new course record of 15:03.02. Southlake's Reed Brown was in the lead pack for the majority of the race. When Clinger and Veatch began to pull away Brown feel back only a little but still held his own to be the first Texas finisher running 15:25 to finish 14th. The second Texas finisher was El Paso Eastwood's Daniel Bernal who came across the line running 15:42 to finish 36th. There was a large group of Texas finishers only a few spots behind Bernal including, The Woodlands Daniel Golden (50th), Noah Wells (52nd), Nicholas Enochs (59th), and Austin Westlake's Matthew Kearney (58th). Kearney was the 4th sophomore finisher running 15:56.
