Blacksburg showed its resilience and depth at the Southeast Regional, grabbing an auto qualifier despite freshman state champ Sophia Link only finishing as their second runner and barely cracking the top 20. Their firewall goes from the top to the bottom of the lineup, as Guenette and Richardson finished just a second apart at regionals--functionally giving the Virginians two #5 runners. Combine that with reasonably favorable speed ratings and the interchangeable nature of the back third of the girls' field, and it's easy to see Blacksburg cracking the top 15 with a few breaks.
