Kingwood and their regional partners Southlake Carroll are, statistically, easy picks to fill out the bottom two. But two major factors are in Kingwood's favor. First, this is its sixth trip to NXN--coach Christie Burleson knows how to manage the insanity and excitement. The last two Kingwood teams to make it (in 2009 and 2011) finished sixteenth. Second, the girls are under no pressure: they only finished fourth in the 6A race at the Texas state meet. The team that's the most fortunate to even be competing often runs the loosest. That could be Kingwood on Saturday.
