The US #19 ranked Winter Park girls won the Deland Invitational with just 18 points as all five scorers finished in the top seven overall. Winter Park sophomore Rafaella Gibbons won the overall title in 18:13, though the defending Florida state champion for 3200m had a tough battle on her hands with another young talent in Rebecca Clark of Mount Dora Christian, who finished runner-up in 18:24.
Freshman Clark rose to fame this past June in winning the Junior High Mile at New Balance Nationals Outdoor in 5:07 and looks poised to make an impact in her first full prep season. She was second at the 1A state meet last fall.
