Day 1 Highlights From World Youth Trials

Boys 110m Hurdles Prelims

Recap: Biggest story from the boys 110 meter hurdles was World Youth gold medal hopeful Damion Thomas, the sophomore state champion hurdler from Florida, suffering an injury on the final sets of hurdles in heat two and struggling to finish and failing to make the finals. A big loss for Team USA as Thomas (10th fastest overall at 14.63) figured to be a favorite to win in Colombia.

The state of Texas looks in good position to send two to Colombia with state champion hurdlers Norman Grimes (13.98) and Isaiah Lucas (13.94) both winning their preliminary heats, but California state runner-up Joseph Anderson figures to challenge both for a top two spot after a tight first round race with Lucas.
