Girls 100m Hurdles Prelims

Recap: Texas state champion Alexis Duncan came out blazing in the girls 100 meter hurdles prelims with a 13.24 clocking in the deepest heat from the first round with 5 girls under 14 seconds in heat 3. Her in-state rival Tonea Marshall got off to a slow start in the same heat, but will move onto the finals with her third place time of 13.73 as Faith of Western Branch (VA) split the two Texans up.

Tara Davis of California, one of the top long jumpers in the country, won heat 1 in 13.67 just edging out Brittley Humphrey from Alabama at 13.68. Gabrielle Cunningham from North Carolina won a light heat 3 (with only 3 finishers) in 13.98 as the 8th fastest qualifier.

Keep in mind that when competing at Youth level, hurdles heights are three inches lower than the regular high school (33 inches) at a height of 30 inches.
