Thursday Highlights from Penn Relays

6:00pm Championship of America - Girls Distance Medley

Rachel McArthur (left) is yet another Virginia sophomore that put on a show this afternoon. She unleashed an outstanding 4:50.16 to gobble up the field and lead her Patriot team to a 11:51.85

Bonnie Angermeier, the top girl on Blacksburg, Virginia's 7th place team at Nike Cross Nationals this past fall, opened things up with the fastest lead off leg, running the 1200m in 3:39.03. Deirdre Casey of West Windsor Plainsboro South (NJ) and Julia Zachgo of Shenendehowa (NY) were right on her heels. Patriot (VA) handed the stick off to the 400m legs in 5th place.

Off of the Suffern 400m and 800m legs of Imani Solan (57.19) and Indoor 600m National Record Holder Kamryn McIntosh (2:10.72), the New York squad made a big push for the lead. It all comes down to the milers though, and despite a 2:21.29 800m from Sierra Bieberr of Patriot, Rachel McArthur reeled in not just Suffern, Blacksburg, and WWPS to win in 11:51.85 dropping the fastest 1600m split, 4:50.16.
