Thursday Highlights from Penn Relays

11:10am Girls 4x100 (heats)

Reigning COA girls 4x100m Champs Edwin Allen (JAM) is only team to break 47sec, in 46.26

Small Schools Recap: It took 32 heats to see St. Jago hit the track and the small school out of St. Catherine, Jamaica did not disappoint with its 47.02. The second fastest time out of the small school division came earlier in the wave of 40 plus heats as Holmwood Tech, the runner-ups in last year's Championship of America 4x400m, dropped a 47.30. The next fastest teams in the small school division belong to a pair of Maryland schools, Bullis (47.84) and just a hair behind, Riverdale Baptist (47.85). With the fastest eight teams out of the small and large school division advancing to the Championship of America (COA) 4x400m later this weekend, it was St. Augustine's, Bahamas who was the fifth and final team to move on out of the small schools with their 48.00.

St. Jago (JAM) rolls to a 47.02 winning by nearly 5 seconds over St. Johns DC

Large Schools Recap: With five advancing from the small schools, this meant that three large school teams will be moving on to the COA 4x400m. One of these teams is the reigning champ in the COA 4x400m, Edwin Allen, who was the only team on the day to break 47 with its 46.26. If there is an American team that could challenge the reigning champs it would be Long Beach Poly, CA (47.23), the fastest US team last year (4th). Yet another Jamaican team to make the COA cut is Wolmer's Girls (47.93) leaving Cheltenham (PA) out of qualifying for the COA 4x400m.

Pennsylvania's Indoor 60 Hurdles State Record Holder Ciara Leonard as Leonard leads Cheltenham, Pennsylvania's powerhouse program, over Virginia's power house team, Western Branch

Long Beach Poly (CA) is very familiar with performing well at Penn Relays. As expected, they do just that in their heat, winning in 47.26, perhaps good to qualify them for the Championship of America

When three teams from three different states are named Notre Dame this is what you get at the finish line
