PARKER — The Freeman Academy boys and Freeman girls claimed top honors in the Parker Invitational cross country meet, held on Wednesday at ParMar Golf Course near Parker.
In the boys’ race, Freeman Academy put five runners in the top seven — with just 21 seconds between them — in winning the team title. Viborg-Hurley’s Layne Meyers won the 5,000-meter race in 17:33.0, followed by Centerville’s Nick Wixon (17:47.5) and five Bobcats: Ryan Haggerty (17:51.7), Thaniel Schroeder (17:55.2), Daniel Jundt (17:59.9), Dane Allison (18:04.7) and Brennan Haggerty (18:12.9).
Viborg-Hurley finished second in the team standings, followed by Irene-Wakonda and Parker.
Freeman’s Cailey Roth (16:35.7) and Rebecca Eberts (16:54.0) went 1-2 in the 4,000-meter event to lead the Flyers to the team title. Viborg-Hurley finished second in the team rankings, led by the third place finish of Jacia Christiansen (17:10.1).
