When i think of cross country this is what comes to mind:

    Oregon
    Arkansas
    Wisconsin
    Colorado
    Stanford
    Iona

and then some others, but those ones have always been good.

    As for track:

    FSU
    LSU
    Tennessee
    Oregon
    Auburn
    UCLA
    Baylor (4x400)

Hope this helps some. if you are looking for college running website, then trackshark.com is the best place to go.

I pretty much agree with Jason.

Florida State did sign our very own Maurice Mitchell (junior times: 10.26w, 20.77, 45.5s).

I ranked the top men's college track teams based their place in the NCAA Division 1 championships the past 3 years. Each team listed placed in the top 20 at least one year and in the top 70 all three years. Their ranking then is based on the total of their places for the three years (2005-7). For example, if a team came in 4th one year, 6th another year and 10th the final year, they would receive 20 points (4+6+10). Like cross country, the low score wins. Here are the results:

    Top Men's Track Rankings 2005-7

    1 Florida State 6
    2 LSU 7
    3 Southern California 20
    4 Arizona 25
    5 Texas 25
    6 Tennessee 29
    7 Oregon 31
    8 North Carolina 34
    9 BYU 39
    10 Wisconsin 41
    11 Texas-El Paso 45
    12 Auburn 52
    13 Stanford 54
    14 Baylor 54
    15 UCLA 64
    16 Arkansas 68
    17 Arizona State 68
    18 Texas A&M 71
    19 Florida 73
    20 Kansas 73
    21 Michigan 77
    22 Mississippi 83
    23 Nebraska 85
    24 Virginia Tech 87
    25 Georgia 93
    26 Boise State 99
    27 Kansas State 100
    28 Texas tech 103
    29 Iowa State 123

It really depends on what you are looking for. Some programs are more distance driven and some are more fields and sprints driven.

But the best schools at least since the earlier 90's

    Arkansas
    LSU
    FSU
    Stanford

With Arkansas and Stanford somewhat driven on great distance runners, LSU and FSU driven on sprints and relays.

As for an earlier post Northern Ky has no official track program at least they don't list one on their web-site.

Plus (according to Maurice), they just signed the Foot Locker national cross champ.

NAIA has some really good programs too not everyone gets good offers DI or DII, NAIA has alot money to offer. Most DI or DII most people have to walk-on and earn a schloarship, just a thought
