Six Things To Watch At The Great Southwest Classic Invitational

Sean Burrell Chasing 400m Greatness

What: 60mH and 400m
WhenMeet Starts At 5:00 pm (MST) Saturday, Feb 10

WhyLast year as a freshman, Sean Burrell made big waves outdoors on the track when he set the 400m 15-year-old age group class record by running 46.19 at Great Southwest Outdoor Track and Field Classic. Before Burell, the record was 46.23 set by T.C. Williams (VA) High's Josephus Lyles in 2014 who turned pro alongside his brother, Noah.

This indoor season, Burrell has already run one of the best 400m dash times this year. Burrell ran 48.87 at the LSU HS Qualifier at the end of January. His time ranks US No. 25. In that race (above) he was relatively unchallenged. This time around he will be racing against Miami Xpress's Tyrese Cooper, the same athlete who pushed him to a 400m outdoor PR and age group record.

Burrell will also be in the 60mH, which is not his best event, but he does currently hold the No. 1 time in the state of Louisiana with his 8.28 from the LHSAA Last Chance Qualifier just last weekend.
