This week we caught up with DeSoto (TX) High boys head track and field coach Donald Miller while shooting a Workout Wednesday video. Miller has coached multiple individual 6A University Interscholastic League (UIL) state champions, as well as state championship teams in 2012 and 2016. You may remember the Eagles' 2016 state championship run, as we documented their chase for the state title in the series "DeSoto."
During their practice, coach Miller had the team run wickets. After practice, we talked with him about what he looks for during wickets to make sure the guys have good form from head to toe.
Below are some key points in his interview.
00:00 - 1:40 - Feet placement during the wicket drills.
1:40 - 2:00 - Running cheek to cheek, and fundamentals of running.
2:15 - 3:20 - Importance of good running mechanics.
