At-Large Teams With The Best Chance To Podium At NXN

Claremont (CA) Girls -- CIF team scores and results

If only because history repeats itself. Since 2014, a California girls team has been on the podium every single year at NXN.

Claremont finished third in the overall power merge in California after the CIF State Cross Country Championships, where they posted a decisive win in Division 2 against Saugus (69-100) and registered a 36-second spread and 18:31 average.

While this season's crop of teams -- Great Oak, Buchanan, Claremont -- are better than ever, NXN will be Claremont's chance to tackle that top podium spot after earning runner-up nods to Great Oak at the Clovis and Mt. SAC Invitational.

At Mt. SAC, the Wolfpack were just 23 points behind Great Oak with a 35-second compression and 17:53 average. Led by talented junior Sydney Hwang and sophomore Azalea Segura-mora, Claremont has the talent to beat (and break) Great Oak or Buchanan on the right day.

Claremont also posted a big win over NXR Northwest winner Bozeman on September 23 at the Bob Firman Invitational.
