Weekend Rundown: Great Oak Boys Power Past Competition For Win At Mt. SAC


The Mt. SAC Invitational began in earnest on Friday in Walnut, California, as thousands of athletes and hundreds of teams toed the line at Mt. San Antonio College. 

The Division 3 Boys Sweepstakes race took center stage, with Cathedral Catholic (CA) High's Joaquin Martinez De Pinillos earned his first win of the season and his second sub-15 minute performance at 3 miles, winning in 14:48.00. 

He out kicked second-place Moises Medrano of Highland High Bakersfield, who finished in 14:55.00. 

It was a tighter team contest, as the Palos Verdes boys earned the team title with 112 points, splitting an average of 15:48 across their scores, three of which came in the top 25. 

Brea Olinda was second with 149 points and West Torrance was third with 151 points.
