Nearly a month removed from their last competition, the Fayetteville-Manlius (NY) High girls certainly didn't disappoint at the Manhattan Invitational on Saturday at Van Cortlandt Park, producing a powerful display of depth to win the Eastern States girls race with 22 points.
Sophomore Claire Walters led the Hornets, ranked No. 2 in the Flo50 national rankings, by winning the 4K course in 14:13.2, while senior Sophie Ryan was second in 14:18.5. Sophomore Phoebe White was third in 14:20.1.

Padua Academy (DE) senior Lydia Olivere was fourth overall in 14:24.1, while Walter Johnson (MD) senior Abigail Green was fifth in 14:28.8. The in-state Hornets averaged a time of 14:25.28 for its scoring five, out producing second-place Liverpool (NY) High by nearly 100 points.

In the boys Eastern States race, Christian Brothers Academy's depth in its three, four and five gave the squad all the points it needed to post a 136 point victory over second-place Fayetteville-Manlius (149) and third-place Green Hope (180).
Senior Brian Hill, who recently committed to the University of Michigan this week, led the Brothers with a seventh-place nod in 12:40.5.
While expectations pumped up a potentially historic race with a stacked lineup of national-caliber runners, no boy broke 12 minutes. St. Anthony's Mason Gatewood (NY), who was 14th in the D race last year, earned a big victory with a winning time of 12:17.4.
Mount Tabor (NC) High's Cameron Ponder was second in 12:20.3 and Pittsford Mendon's Nathan Lawler was third in 12:20.7. Neshaminy (PA) High's Rusty Kujdych was fourth in 12:24.1 and Bolles (FL) School's Charles Hicks was fifth in 12:30.2. McDonogh (MD) School's Dalton Hengst, who had won two straight races at the Paul Short Run and Great American, was ninth in 12:44.3.
