Johnson currently owns the nation's top 5K time with a mark of 14:54.88, which he achieved on his home course at the Early Bird Invitational. But really, he began his surge up the Ohio ranks last year at the Ohio High School Athletic Association Cross Country Championships, earning his first state title in 15:18.40.
But that success carried over to the spring season, where Johnson scored another title in the 3200m and ran a 4:17.59 full mile. He also posted a fourth-place bid at New Balance Nationals Outdoor in 14:57.13, his first dip under 14 minutes.
