5. Charles Hicks Over Flo50 No. 7 Jacob McLeod
In a showdown between two of the top distance talents in Florida and Georgia, it was the Sunshine State's Charles Hicks of Jacksonville Bolles School who took the win on Saturday on a familiar course at the Bale-N-Trail Cross Country Original meet.
The junior recruit out-kicked Trinity Christian School (Georgia) senior Jacob McLeod, ranked No. 7 in MileSpit's preseason Flo50 boys rankings, to take the tape in 15:26.90, less than a second before McLeod crossed in 15:27.10.
The win also was satisfying in other ways for Hicks, whose team took the overall meet title with 54 points.
