New Jersey Well Represented at Pan-Am Junior Championships


This weekend New Jersey is sending three to Peru to compete for Team USA at the Pan-American Junior Championships. The action will run from Friday, July 21 through Sunday July 23rd. These athletes advanced from the USATF Junior National Championships in June, New Jersey highlights from that meet can be found here.

Corey Poole - 400m Hurdles

Poole won the USATF Junior National 400m hurdle title with a time of 50.64. He graduated East Orange Campus with the class of 2017 and leaves behind a dominating legacy in the hurdle events. He'll be heading to the University of Florida this fall with some major PRs of 13.46 in the 110m hurdles, 49.88 in the 400m hurdles, 7.07 in the 55m hurdles, and 47.68 in the 400m dash.


Tim Bason - 3000m Steeple

Tim Bason won the USATF Junior National 3000m steeplechase title in June with a time of 9:15.40. This New Jersey star graduated from West Windsor Plainsboro South in 2016 and now attends NC State University. He is a former Group 4 State Champion in the 1600 meter and won the 2016 New Balance Nationals Outdoor mile run title with a time of 4:11.89.

Alyssa Wilson - Hammer and Shot Put

She placed first and second in the hammer and shot put at USATF Junior Nationals with marks of 185-11.5 and 53-03 respectively. Wilson graduated from Donovan Catholic this past spring and holds the indoor and outdoor national record in the shot put at 57-05.5 and 57-01.25 as well as multiple state records in various throwing events. She's threw down a high school career for the ages with plenty of records, state titles, and national titles to prove it.
