The Scoop: Port Arthur Memorial Makes History

7. Norway Teen Goes 3:43 at Portland Twilight

The Portland Twilight meet got a compelling addition to its 1500m men's field when one of the top teenage mid-distance runners in Norway entered into its ranks.

At least in the early stages, the field didn't pay any attention to16-year-old Jakob Ingebrigsten - who was in dead last after the first 300m.

But soon enough, Ingebrigsten began to make his move, first navigating through the chase pack before punching his way up to the leaders over the last 400 meters.

The field couldn't hang with the Norway teen during his powerful surge and watched as he won in 3:43.85.

The win was a little over a second off his personal best of 3:42.44. The finish would have also been good for a new US No. 1 in high school.
