SAN FRANSICO, CA. - Middle school phenom Grace Ping set a 5K age group world record at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival on Friday. The 8th grader ran 16:26.83 setting a new 13-year-old age group recordShe won the race beating 144 collegiate athletes.

Her time breaks the old record of 16:36 which she ran at the end of last year at the Silicon Valley Turkey Trot.  Before that, the prior 13-year-old record was 16:43, set in 1995 by Yui Fukuda of Japan.

Ping is no stranger to breaking and setting new records. The middle school stud has been breaking records on the track and on the road since she was 10. She now holds every 5K world record from 10 to 13-years-old which brings her record total up to six.
