Katelynne Hart Breaks National Freshman Class Record For Two Miles

Glenbard West, Ill. freshman Katelynne Hart clinched two big wins at the University of Kentucky on Saturday in the mile, US #12 4:54.3, and two mile, US #1 10:21.23. The two mile time not only eclipsed Niamh Schumacher's national leader by four seconds, it also set a new national freshman class record. The prior record of 10:23.46 was set back in 1998 by Michelle dela Vina.

Hart said after the race that she ran 9:50 for 3K as an eighth grader, which equates to about 10:37 for two miles.

Hart also won the mile in 4:54.3, the No. 12 time in the country this season.
